History

Physical e-Reader cards, scanned with the add-on accessory, supply extra courses alongside Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, Nintendo's 2003 handheld port of the NES world tour. The kings' stolen magic wands, the forked maps, and Bowser's airship still structure the main trip. A Mario Bros. battle mode shares the cartridge with that journey.

Those cards are objects you hold and swipe, a physical add-on kept beside the cart rather than a password typed on a title screen. Without the accessory, the eight worlds and their fortresses remain a full quest. Hammer suits, frog suits, and tanooki tails behave much as they did when the stages were new.

Some courses scroll on their own, some hide a second exit, and a few demand a very short hop onto a moving lift. Chain-link fences and pipes still ask for the older, stricter timing. The battle mode is the separate Mario Bros. arena, where foes are bumped from below on stacked platforms.

Nintendo issued the port in the Super Mario Advance line. The scanned-card stages widen the trip only when the matching cards and the e-Reader are both present.
