History
Treasure totals and multiple endings matter more than a life counter in Wario Land II. Nintendo's adventure straddles Game Boy and Game Boy Color, and the color-era release sits with a later generation of Wario in 1998.
A crushed, burned, or inflated Wario becomes a key for a door instead of a game over. Coins still feed a treasure count that steers which finale plays when Captain Syrup's plot is done.
The monochrome and color cartridges share that refusal to tick down lives. Status jokes, not a spare life, are how a stuck room opens.
