A wall jump and a Mega Mushroom mark the return of side-scrolling Mario, and New Super Mario Bros. puts those moves on two screens. The Mega Mushroom smashes a brick house the fire flower would only scorch.
The top screen is the course and the bottom screen tracks stored items and the progress map. Blue shells, tiny doors, and the giant mushroom that smashes brick houses sit beside the classic fire flower.
Nintendo's 2006 handheld restart led to later home versions and a Deluxe follow-up. Those sequels are separate games; this cartridge is the one that brought the side view back.
