History

Capture Styler loops, rather than battles, define Pokémon Ranger. The 2006 DS spinoff is the first game in that handheld line.

A circle drawn around a wild Pokémon fills the styler gauge until the creature agrees to help, then the help clears an obstacle instead of entering a Poké Ball forever. The Ranger Union in the region sends the player on those capture jobs.

Later Almia and Oblivia adventures follow this first styler. Battles with turns and type charts are not the verb here.
