Miles Prower joins the dash in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sega's 1992 Genesis sequel that also introduces the spin dash. Tails follows Sonic through Chemical Plant, Casino Night, and the Death Egg, and the spin dash starts a run without a downhill slope.
Chaos emeralds still turn a fast hedgehog into Super Sonic, and the split-screen race on one television was a reason to own a second pad. Later motion-console and glasses-free handheld releases reissue that same 16-bit game.
The reissues are the Genesis stages, not a 3D remake. Tails and the spin dash are the two ideas this sequel added to Green Hill's formula.
