History

Sumo Digital seated Sega characters in karts, and Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing gives each one a signature move on the motion console and the handheld. AiAi's all-star burst is a personal item, not a random crate dropped on the track.

Sonic, AiAi, and the rest bring courses that quote their own worlds. The all-star burst is a temporary power tied to the driver, closer to a kart item with a personality than to a plain speed pad.

The 2010 pair uses separate versions rather than one build scaled twice. Drifting into a boost still decides whether a quoted Green Hill curve is won or wall-hugged.
