Splash Hill's loops announce a side-view return in Sonic the Hedgehog 4 - Episode I, a Dimps and Sonic Team follow-up. Doctor Eggman drops badniks into short zones, and the episode reached players in 2010.
A homing attack sits on top of the old spin, and Casino Street, Lost Labyrinth, and Mad Gear Zone follow the grassy opener. A second episode continued the serial later; this first chapter is the test of whether a Sonic sold in parts could still feel like the old run.
The Genesis trilogy had ended on a different scale. Episode I is the short revival, four zones and a familiar doctor, offered as the start of a serial rather than one long cartridge.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
