History

Inhaled enemies become copy abilities in Kirby's Adventure, the long NES journey that gave Kirby a hat for each stolen power. A sword, a fireball, or a hammer replaces the plain puff, and King Dedede is no longer the only thing the inhale is for.

HAL Laboratory and Nintendo built the follow-up to Dream Land around that copy. Masahiro Sakurai's hero still floats, but the stolen ability is the new identity.

The game arrived in 1993 and set the copy-ability identity later Kirby games keep. Nightmare and the Fountain of Dreams sit at the end of a much longer map than Dream Land had.
