History

Flickies are the birds worth saving in Sonic 3D Blast (1996), Traveller's Tales' isometric Genesis game. A Saturn edition shipped beside it, and Doctor Robotnik is still stuffing wildlife into machines.

The isometric angle makes a loop harder to read than in the side-view games, and a shield or a speed shoe still hides in a corner of the island. Special stages differ between the Genesis and Saturn editions, but both are about freeing the birds.

Sonic's usual run is a profile of springs and loops. Blast turns that run into a diagonal maze of Flickies, which is why players still describe the camera first.
