History
Green plastic faces tan plastic in Army Men, the 1998 opener of a long toy-soldier line from 3DO. Sarge and his squad treat a kitchen, a yard, and a picnic table as a war zone sized for figures that stand an inch tall.
The fantasy is the scale. A garden hose is a river, a birthday candle can be cover, and the tan army's machines are molded from the same bin as the green rifles.
Sequels kept coming after this first clash, some squad-sized and some later real-time. The original joke still sticks: a serious campaign fought by toys that look like they came from a hardware-store bag.
