History

Alex Mason hears the numbers in Call of Duty: Black Ops, the 2010 Cold War shooter with which Treyarch opened the Black Ops line. Interrogation flashes send him through Cuba, Vietnam, and a Soviet program that will not stay buried.

Viktor Reznov's presence ties the missions together, and the campaign is a memory being pulled apart rather than a single front. A motion-console build shipped beside the main releases, while the dual-screen edition is a separate portable campaign with its own missions.

The line that followed took its name from this Cold War story. Mason's numbers, not a World War II beach, are the start of that line.
