History

Bomberman characters ride animals in the story mode of Super Bomberman 4, Hudson Soft's 1996 game for the Japanese Super Famicom. Multiplayer remains the heart of the cartridge. It is not the first Super Bomberman.

Story stages put riders on creatures that change how a maze is crossed. The animals are mounts inside the bomb rules, not a separate race. Cast members fill the story roles.

Battle rounds are still why players gather around one machine. Grids, bombs, and sudden traps decide those rounds. The mounted story is a path around that table, not a replacement for it.

Hudson Soft aimed the fourth Super Famicom entry at both the animal rides and the usual bouts. Earlier games in the line had already established the battles. The original box is a different, earlier release.
