History

Polygonal stages and a rescue plot share Bomberman 64 (1997). A thrown bomb can turn a polygonal corner. Hudson moved the series off the flat grid, adding a single-player story about saving people beside the usual blasting.

Gold bombs and kicked explosives still clear a room, but the camera sits inside a 3D space where a bomb can be thrown around a corner. The rescue targets give the solo mode a reason to visit each world.

Multiplayer blasting remains the party. The cartridge's new claim is the polygonal rescue, which the earlier flat puzzles did not stage.
