History

White Bomberman jumps in profile in Pocket Bomberman, and the maze battle is gone. Hudson's 1997 release turns Bomberman into a side-scrolling platformer, with bombs as tools for cracking blocks and clearing a path instead of as arena weapons.

Ladders, pits, and a fuse you have to outrun replace the four-player grid. A bomb is still round and still explodes in a cross, but the camera follows one Bomberman through a stage.

Hudson's arena games remained the famous form. This pocket outing is the odd one that asks the mascot to jump.
