History

Capcom remixed stages from the first two Mega Man X games for Mega Man Xtreme, a Game Boy Color X entry that North America received in 2001 with Sigma-era rooms rearranged. Armor parts and boss weapons still transfer, arranged into a new order.

X faces a motherboard crisis built from Sigma-era stages you may already know. A Maverick room returns in a handheld layout, which is the remix rather than a new numbered console sequel.

Zero's presence and the familiar boss weapons make it feel like the X series even on a small screen. The cartridge is its own X episode, not Mega Man X3 and not a plain port of the Super Nintendo games.
