History

Ancient Sinistrals haunt the party in Lufia: The Legend Returns (2001), a pocket journey of towns and turn-based battles. The small screen still has to hold a full group of allies between dungeons.

Recruitable allies, far more than a fixed party of four, distinguish this chapter from a straight retelling of the fortress stories on home consoles. Random encounters, spells, and equipment shops are the rhythm between story scenes.

Earlier Lufia games had already made the Sinistrals a recurring doom. This chapter keeps that lineage and spends its novelty on who can join and how a battle fits in a pocket.
