History

Cups borrowed from Super Mario Kart sit inside Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Nintendo's small-screen racer from 2001 with extra tracks of its own. The flat courses belong between the earlier dimensional Kart and the pocket sequels that followed.

You drift a tiny kart on those familiar tracks plus new cups made for the small screen. A link race is part of how a session with friends can feel.

The flat courses are a choice, not a failed copy of the Nintendo 64's dimensional tracks. Super Mario Kart's cups are the nostalgia half of the menu.
