History

Atari's vector cabinet Star Wars (1983) seats you in an X-wing for the Death Star trench. It is a film-based arcade game, built years before the side-scrolling home licenses.

A tower on the surface, then the trench itself, asks for shots on targets while TIE fighters cross the wireframe view. The Death Star's exhaust port is the last target that vector sequence offers.

Later side-scrolling Star Wars games on home consoles tell their scenes another way. This cabinet is the wireframe trench run.
