History

Link washes ashore on Koholint in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (1993), an island that is not Hyrule, and tries to wake the Wind Fish. Nintendo's Game Boy adventure includes the later color DX edition as the same quest, while the 2019 Switch remake stands apart.

Marin, the Wind Fish's egg, and instruments hidden in dungeons form the path. A side-view chamber and a learned song can open a route the overworld will not show until the tune is played.

The DX edition adds a color dungeon and a camera without rewriting the island's story. The Switch reconstruction is a separate production, and Koholint on the Game Boy is the adventure described here.
