History

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess lets Link become a wolf whenever the twilight covers a province. Midna argues with Link instead of offering the polite hints of an older companion.

Eiji Aonuma directed it as the darker follow-up to Wind Waker, and it shipped both as a Wii launch game with motion swings and as a GameCube game with a mirrored world and a traditional controller. Midna, not a fairy in the old style, is the companion who actually argues.

The tears of light, the hero's bow, and the double clawshot structure a Hyrule that is larger and more rural than Ocarina's. Wolf Link's senses find ghosts and scents the human form walks past. The last duel with Ganondorf is staged as a swordfight in a field, deliberately old-fashioned after the wolf chapters.

Twilight Princess HD on Wii U is a separate remaster. This page covers the Wii and GameCube releases of Twilight Princess as one work.
