Flipping into the foreground solves walls in Super Paper Mario. The side-scroller jumps into a depth axis, and the result plays closer to an action adventure than to the turn-based battles of earlier Paper Mario stories.
Intelligent Systems and Nintendo released the Wii game in 2007. Count Bleck's Void is why the flip exists. Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi each take a chapter's hero slot, with Tippi the Pixl and Count Bleck's Void driving the plot.
The Thousand-Year Door on GameCube remains the turn-based predecessor. Here a flip finds a door painted on a surface the flat view cannot enter.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
