Metroid Fusion puts a voice, the computerized Adam, in Samus's ear and still hides missiles off the path that voice recommends. The station marks an objective and then still hides tanks in rooms the marker never mentions.
Nintendo released it in the same season as Metroid Prime, with Yoshio Sakamoto directing the handheld half. Samus is infected by the X parasites, confined to a suit that talks, and hunted by the SA-X, a copy of her fully powered self, aboard the B.S.L. research station.
The map marks an objective, which the earlier Metroids refused to do, yet the station is still full of optional tanks and a navigation room that lies about how trapped you are. The final choice about the station and the X is the story beat Fusion is remembered for.
Metroid Dread continues directly from this ending. Prime is the other half of that return to the series and has its own page. This entry is Metroid Fusion.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
The series list above is the whole family set in this catalog.
