Vicarious Visions built a warp-room platformer and gave the American Game Boy Advance release the name Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure. Europe called the same cartridge Crash Bandicoot XS, Japan called it Crash Bandicoot Advance, and the release sat in 2002. The stages were drawn for this handheld, not converted from the first home-console Crash adventure.
The hub sends him into a short side-view level and takes him back when the exit is reached. Crates, pits, and a spin through enemies fill those rooms at a scale the small screen can hold. Cortex is still scheming, and the hazards were laid out for this cartridge's own map.
That original console adventure has its own beaches and ruins. Nothing here asks the Advance hardware to restage that run room for room. Vicarious Visions uses the warp room so one portable sitting can be a single level and a return to the hub.
Three official regional titles cover one game. XS and Advance are not sequels hiding behind translation; they are the European and Japanese names. The American structure is the hub, the original stages, and Crash's spin, built for the handheld on purpose.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
The series list above is the whole family set in this catalog.
