History

Four Hunting Styles reshape a weapon in Monster Hunter Generations, Capcom's hunt built on Guild, Striker, Aerial, and Adept together with Hunter Arts. Prowler mode sends you out as a Palico instead of a human hunter. Deviant monsters, Hellblade Glavenus among them, stand apart from ordinary quarry. Capcom released the installment in 2016.

Whichever style is equipped rewrites dodges and combo paths before the monster is even sighted. Aerial hunters treat leaving the ground as footwork. Adept hunters convert a timed evade into an opening, Striker leans on arts, and Guild keeps a broader traditional kit.

Under Prowler rules a Palico has a separate skill list and a smaller frame in the same locale. That cat hunts alone instead of trailing a human partner. Hunter Arts fill a gauge and then spend according to the style that was chosen.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate does not put this four-way style split at its center. Deviant quarries, the styles, and the Prowler option arrive together on the Nintendo 3DS. Picking Aerial or Adept as a human, or going out as a Palico, is the choice waiting before the quest.
