History

Tokyo is locked down in Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, and a death clock on your phone counts the days you have left. Atlus released this DS original in 2009. Demons are bought at auction and then fielded in tactical battles.

Quarantine walls hold people inside a city that is coming apart. The clock is a number on the device in your hand, and other people can see their own counts. When a count hits zero, that person's story ends.

Auctions trade demons for currency, and deals sit alongside the bidding. Human friends and their summoned demons share turn-based fights on a grid. The crisis is measured in days, not in an open countryside.

Overclocked, on a later handheld, is a remake with extra story material. The original lockdown, death clock and all, is the DS game. Atlus told that week there before any expanded retelling.
