History

Laharl, Etna, and Flonne return in Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, a handheld port of Hour of Darkness. Nippon Ichi made the port and NIS America published the Western release in 2009. The result is extra content on an old campaign, not a new numbered sequel.

Geo panels color the grid and chain explosions when those colors line up. The Dark Assembly is the senate where bills can change rules, stats, and shop stock. Senators can be persuaded, bribed, or tossed, and a failed vote is still part of the comedy.

Laharl is the demon prince after his father's throne. Etna schemes as his vassal, and Flonne is the angel sent to watch him. Their arguing sets the tone of the maps.

The PlayStation 2 original is the Hour of Darkness campaign. This edition adds material that disc did not include. Disgaea 2 and the later numbered tales are different wars.
