History
Children sign pacts with demons in Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children. Atlus aimed the spinoff at a younger audience in 2000, pairing kids with demon partners instead of leaving negotiation to adult heroes alone.
Recruiting, fusing, and battling still descend from the parent series, but the heroes are school-age. A partner demon walks with the child, and the story treats that bond as the point.
Black Book and Red Book are the paired cartridges of the same season, each with a different child. This broader name is the line those two routes belong to, the one that let a kid hold the leash.
