Vaan leads a crew of sky pirates through Ivalice in Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. Square Enix and Think & Feel released that sequel in 2007. It plays in real time on DS, and it is not the PlayStation 2 game that introduced him.
You select groups and send them across floating lands and ship decks. Espers join as summons you recruit and group with the pirates, rather than as one limit-style call. Penelo flies with the crew instead of waiting off-screen.
Orders, movement, and abilities share one clock. A summoned Esper fights as a unit inside the formation. Losing the leader can collapse a skirmish even while the summons are still out.
Think & Feel handled the handheld battles with Square Enix. The PS2 gambit system and the long overland walk are a different game. This sequel starts after that story and moves the camera to squad command.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
First developer on the RAWG card: Square Enix, Think & Feel.
