Konami's first handheld Castlevania, Castlevania: The Adventure (1989), is a stiff whip-platform trek. Longtime fans still rank Christopher Belmont's walk as the series' roughest start.
One hit can knock the whip back a stage of power, and the slow stride leaves little room under a swinging trap. These early corridors offer little subweapon variety to save a bad jump.
Belmont's Revenge, the follow-up on the same handheld, loosens that stiffness. This first cartridge is the awkward opening of Game Boy Castlevania.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
The series list above is the whole family set in this catalog.
