History

Midway digitized real wrestlers for combo strings in WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game, a 1995 federation license. A grapple opens into a chain of hits more like a fighting game than a simulation of a pay-per-view card.

Doink, Bret Hart, and the rest appear as photographed sprites, and a combo meter rewards the longer string. There is no season and no contract screen; the match is the whole product.

It is an arcade fighting take, not a booking sim. The Super Nintendo port brings those digitized combos home without turning them into a calendar of real shows.
