History

Acclaim followed Maximum Carnage with Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety, again starring the symbiote pair. Software Creations developed the mid-1990s Super Nintendo and Genesis versions, and the two still brawl as a side-scrolling pair.

Venom and Spider-Man can both be on screen, which the title's separation theme keeps threatening to undo. Symbiote tendrils are the extra reach, and the enemies are the same street-level comic chaos Carnage had already staged.

The 1995 beat-em-up is a sequel, not a fresh license. Maximum Carnage is the previous cart; this one is the separation story and the same two hosts.
