Trials of Mana asks you to field three companions chosen from Duran, Angela, Kevin, Charlotte, Hawkeye, and Riesz. Square first published that six-hero roster on the Super Famicom under the name Seiken Densetsu 3 in 1995.
Switching the starting trio changes which towns open their doors and which class change appears after the light and dark forks. Battles pause on a ring menu, and a full gauge spends a technique before the enemy bar fills.
The Super Famicom cartridge left Japan without an English script. A much later remake took Trials of Mana as its public title and finally translated the six-hero scenario for players who had known only Secret of Mana.
