History

Licensed metal and a police radar define Test Drive 6, Accolade's 1999 street-racing stop on a series that had been selling point-to-point courses for years. The courses run from city to city rather than around a closed oval, and the cars wear real manufacturer badges.

Traffic, a checkpoint clock, and a patrol car that takes offense at a high speed are the hazards. A handheld version keeps the same fantasy, a named sports car and a road with an end, even when the scenery is reduced to a strip.

Earlier Test Drive games had already made the license the selling point. This sixth entry refreshes the garage and the map without turning the series into a circuit championship.
