History

Superbike lean is the whole camera in Redline Racer, and it is Criterion Games' first release. The 1998 motorcycle racer is an early step for the studio later known for Burnout, already obsessed with speed and a road that punishes a bad line.

A tucked rider, a cockpit rush, and courses built for top speed are the contents. There is no combat power-up fantasy here; the crash is what happens when the racing line fails.

Burnout's later crash cinema grew out of a team that had already shipped a bike game about velocity. This debut is that bike game, the one that put Criterion on a road before the takedown series existed.
