History

Gold bars sit inside diggable brick in Lode Runner, the puzzle Hudson brought from Broderbund to the Famicom. Guards chase the thief, and a dug hole traps them only until they climb back out.

The US edition followed in 1987, and every piece of gold has to be taken before the exit matters. A buried guard is a temporary tool rather than a permanent kill.

Hudson's home version keeps the dig, the trap, and the gold. Broderbund's computer puzzle is the source, and this cartridge is the Famicom and NES life of that chase.
