Atari's Breakout (1976) clears a brick wall with a ball and a paddle, and Steve Wozniak's prototype for the company is part of its origin story. Any Game Boy edition is a distant port of that arcade idea.
The ball speeds up as bricks vanish, and a missed return costs one of a few turns. Colored rows at the top of the wall score more than the dull bricks near the paddle.
Wozniak's early build and the arcade cabinet are the story's start. The handheld cart replays the same wall without being the machine that introduced it.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
