Umihara Kawase swings on a stretchy fishing line that grabs a wall, hooks a fish, and climbs a gap. This Super Famicom platformer from 1994 stayed in Japan on its first edition and later gathered a cult following.
The cord bends, snaps, and slings the girl across kitchens and docks full of hostile sea life. A mistimed hook drops her, so the rubber line is both the path and the hazard.
No official translation shipped with that first Japanese cartridge. Players who found the line physics years later are the audience that turned the Super Famicom original into a cult favorite.
