History

A robotic suit turns a worm into a run-and-gun hero in Earthworm Jim, launched by Shiny Entertainment and David Perry. New Junk City opens with a cow used as a living projectile, and Psycrow wants the suit back.

The first release was on the Sega Genesis in 1994, with the cartoon frames and the whip-like worm body already in place. Princess What's-Her-Name is the excuse for the trip, but the suit's guns and the worm's stretch are the verbs.

Super Nintendo and handheld versions followed that Genesis original. They are ports of Shiny's cartoon, not the place the cow, the suit, or Psycrow were invented.
