Branching paths and cockpit chatter carry Star Fox 64, the on-rails shooter that replaced the Super Nintendo game's chip-drawn look. Fox McCloud still flies an Arwing, and Peppy's bark about a barrel roll is now a spoken line.
Nintendo built the 1997 missions so a saved teammate or a found shortcut opens a different next world. All-range mode lets the Arwing turn around inside a space brawl, which the strict corridor stages do not allow.
