History

Hidden ramps started the city series in San Francisco Rush: Extreme Racing. Atari Games released the shortcut-filled racer in 1997, sending cars over the hills where a billboard can hide a leap.

Alcatraz sightlines and downtown drops reward a driver who leaves the marked road. Crash damage and a loud boost are the arcade language the later Rush games inherited.

Rush 2049 pushed the same idea into the future. This first Extreme Racing is the present-day hills and the original secret doors.
