Square's Romancing SaGa 2, led by Akitoshi Kawazu, follows an empire handed across generations. This Super Famicom role-playing game from 1993 did not receive a contemporary English release.
A ruler falls and an heir inherits the throne, the researched spells, and the unfinished war against the Seven Heroes. Classes appear as the centuries pass, so the party that ends the campaign need not have been born when it began.
The generation skip is the system players remember. English-speaking audiences waited years before an official edition carried Kawazu's empire outside Japan.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
