Spells fire when colored gems match in Puzzle Quest 2, and Infinite Interactive's match-puzzle RPG continues the Puzzle Quest idea. A DS version was part of the 2010 release.
Mana from the board pays for attacks, and a dungeon crawl sits under the gem grid. The sequel changes the setting and the items while keeping the match-to-cast loop of the first game.
The DS version belongs to that release rather than to a much later spinoff. Gems, mana, and equipment are still the turn.
