Quest continued the squad battles on the Nintendo 64 with Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber, first released in Japan in 1999 already. Real-time units still meet on a map, now wrapped in a larger class story of a soldier rising through a revolution.
Classes and a moral lean change how the army is judged. A unit's formation still resolves the clash, and the lordly caliber of the subtitle is the hero's climb, not a single duel.
The Japanese release is the original home of that class tale. Western carts followed, but the squads and the revolution start with Quest's Nintendo 64 continuation.
