History

A practice dummy defines Killer Instinct Gold, Rare's Nintendo 64 version of Killer Instinct 2 with a practice room attached. Combo breakers still interrupt a long string, and the 1996 training mode lets a player drill those breakers without a tournament match.

It covers the sequel, not the earlier Super Nintendo Killer Instinct cart. Orchid, Fulgore, and the new fighters belong to the second arcade cast, which Gold is translating.

The training mode is the home addition players cite. Gold is that second roster plus the practice room, not a reprint of the Super Nintendo combo tape.
