Billy rolls a giant egg through Morning Land in Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg (2003), hatching helpers and fighting the crows that overrun the morning world. Sonic Team's platformer, published by Sega, never hands the stages to Sonic. Pushing the shell until it breaks, the chicken-cap hero frees a helper.
Steering a small shell is a puzzle, while a grown one bowls straight through the flock. Momentum supplies the hit. Whichever creature emerges then has a job in the following stretch, so the egg that was fed becomes the tool.
Crows occupy Morning Land. Nests, switches, and scattered flocks are the reasons to push the shell uphill. Sonic Team built the mascot run around that egg-roller, and Sega published the crow-fighting courses.
Breaking the shell pays out and arms the next stretch at the same moment. Hatching the fitting animal answers the obstacle ahead. Rolling, growing, and using what emerges, against those crows, is the whole action.
