A meteor disaster replaces the bright Wars World in Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, and a new cast fights in the ruins. Intelligent Systems developed the campaign and Nintendo published it in 2008. Europe received the same war as Advance Wars: Dark Conflict.
Andy and the cheerful commanding officers of the older games do not lead these armies. Shortages and ruined cities keep the writing harsh. CO powers still charge as units fight, then tip a battle when they are spent.
Units still move on a grid, capture properties, and spend funds. The meteor is why the map looks abandoned rather than festive. New officers carry the powers, and their personalities are not the old cartoon roster.
Dark Conflict is a regional title, not a second campaign. Intelligent Systems kept the grid and removed the sunny framing. Tank spacing and infantry still decide the turn.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
The series list above is the whole family set in this catalog.
