Sega aimed the racket at a wrist, and Virtua Tennis 4 on the motion console swings the remote as the racquet. A baseline rally still punishes a swing that starts before the bounce.
Licensed players and a motion-friendly club structure carry the matches. Timing the swing replaces the button-tap precision of earlier Virtua cabinets, which changes how a baseline rally feels.
The 2011 edition still cares about footwork position before the shot. A party in the living room can pick up a remote and rally without learning a six-button grip first.
