Maxwell writes a noun and the object appears, which is the trick of Scribblenauts. 5th Cell built the notebook and Warner Bros. published it in 2009. If the word names a thing, that thing drops into the level ready to push, ride, or ignite.
Each puzzle hides a Starite, and the stage rarely names the one correct object. A ladder, a rope, or something stranger can all be legitimate when the physics cooperate. The pleasure is inventing a solution the simulator still has to honor.
This first outing understands nouns and little else. Color, weight, and other describing words arrived only in the sequel, so a crate here is only a crate. You cannot paint it by typing an adjective in front of the noun.
Maxwell moves between those Starite problems with the notebook as his inventory. Spawn too many objects and the level can choke on its own clutter. Warner Bros. shipped that toy as 5th Cell designed it, nouns first.
Same series is the tight name match. Same franchise is the wider family. Same platform is other games on the systems named above.
