History

Kunio's soccer becomes a foul-heavy match in Nintendo World Cup, the Western release of a Technos Nekketsu game. Nintendo published that version in 1990, while the Japanese name keeps the tie to the high-school brawler series.

Shoulder charges and sliding tackles matter as much as a clean pass. The teams play a full pitch, but the tone is the Nekketsu habit of turning a sport into a scrap.

Technos built the match, and the Western box put Nintendo's name on the foul-friendly rules. It is Kunio-kun soccer with international teams, not a restrained simulation of a real cup.
