History

Hot pursuits return with helicopters in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, EA's 2002 revival of cops versus racers. Spike strips and roadblocks are back, and the PlayStation 2 version was built by a different team than the GameCube, Xbox, and PC releases.

That split means the cube disc is not a straight copy of the PlayStation 2 career. Routes, traffic, and the feel of the chase differ because the teams differed, even though the box name matches.

Players comparing notes across consoles were not always describing the same handling. The cube, Xbox, and computer releases share one build; the PlayStation 2 game is the other.
